ER GM inspects Kanchrapara Workshop

Ghanshyam Singh, General Manager, Eastern Railway inspected different Shops of Kanchrapara Workshop today. Mr Singh also held a meeting with CWM and other Senior Officers of the workshop and advised to take all possible steps to fulfill the assigned target of the workshop within stipulated time.
The GM expressed his satisfaction over the all-round performance of the workshop and expressed his concern to make this workshop a Centre of Excellence, the proposal for which is already under consideration of Railway Board.  
In this context, it may be mentioned that, Kanchrapara Workshop is one of the oldest Railway Workshop in the Country and Completed more than150 years. It was established in 1863 and over the years Kanchrapara Workshop of ER has developed as a premiere workshop of Indian Railway system for overhauling of Locos, EMUs, MEMUs, DEMUs, coaches, tower wagons, bogies & wheel-sets. This workshop is largest in terms of targets, outturn, budget & manpower not only in Eastern Railway but also in Indian Railways. (EOIC)
