ER, SER’s special drive against touting, ticketless travel

To create awareness among the passengers against falling prey to touts and for purchase journey ticket from the counters by producing own identity, a special drive against touting activities and ticketless travel was undertaken jointly by RPF, GRP and vigilance department of Eastern Railway at Howrah station premises recently.
A raid was conducted at the tatkal counters, computerized reservation centres at Old & New Complex of Howrah station, unreserved ticket counters, current reservation counters and also nearby Howrah station area to nab touts. A K, deputy chief vigilance officer along with other vigilance officers and inspectors, Commercial Staff and RPF of Eastern Railway conducted the Special Drive. Similar drives were also conducted at Sealdah & Kolkata station complex today. Officers and inspectors of vigilance department of South Eastern Railway too initiated an all out drive at different reservation counters, parcel booking offices, catering units viz  against overcharging, touting and any sort of irregularity at station and onboard at the time of Diwali.
On the day of Diwali (October 19), officers and inspectors of vigilance department of South Eastern Railway arranged a raid at booking counters of Hatia station and Ranchi Station simultaneously as a part of the drive. During this check one tout, said to be named as Anthony Hembrom while trying to escape from Ranchi Reservation counter was caught by the Vigilance team with the help of RPF Personnel. Papers relating to booking of tatkal tickets in the name of different persons in Sleeper Class of different trains on October 19 and 20, an amount of Rs 8,000 other relevant documents were seized from the person.
Quite a number of teams were formed to conduct this well planned ambush check simultaneously at all major stations of South Eastern Railway viz Rabindrasadan(Kolkata), Kharagpur, Hatia, Tatanagar, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Kalaikunda, Bokarao and Ranchi  spread over its entire jurisdiction covering three states viz West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand to prevent any sort of irregularity in ticketing, transfer of tickets, parcel booking etc.
