Escalators at Asansol station inaugurated

Babul Supriyo, Minister of State of Heavy Industries & PE, Govt. of India dedicated Escalators on Platform Nos. 2 & 7 to Passenger Service at Asansol station today to the passengers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that these escalators will be surely helpful for the passengers at Asansol, especially during the rush period. Provision of such escalator increases the speed of movement of passenger on the platform area by facilitating quick de-congestion of the platform and thereby increases the comfort of the passengers. It will be very much useful for old-aged and specially-abled (divyang persons) for easy and hassle free movement, he added.
These escalators at Asansol are powered by 18.5HP motor, can serve 100 passengers per minute. It may be mentioned here that Eastern Railway has planned to install 14 escalators at different stations over its jurisdiction of which 2 nos. each for Asansol and Durgapur stations under Asansol Division.
