Heavy rain and storm affected train movements in Asansol Divn

Due to heavy rain and cyclonic weather in Panagarh-Asansol-Sitarampur Section of Eastern Railway’s Asansol Division since last night, train services in the section were affected today.
Track Maintenance Crews and Tower Van Crews acted on a war footing measure to remove tree branches from Railway track & remove logged water to maintain train movement.
Water logging appeared at several places like Mankar, Raniganj, Kajoragram, Barakar, Sitarampur, Mugma, Barabani, Asansol Shed and Andal Yard. Overhead power trouble also appeared at Asansol Shed area following heavy rain and storm.
Storm twisted tree branches had fallen on railway track between Andal Jn. Cabin and Sonachara on Andal-Sitarampur section at 4.00 hrs resulting in parting of overhead wire of East Line. The section was cleared at 11.20 hrs.
Heavy rain also caused subsidence of Down track between Kulti & Sitarampur stations at about 11:43 hrs. today. The track was made fit for train movements at 13:25 hrs.
As a sequel to this, 13512/13511 Asansol-Tata Express, 73539/73540                        Andal-Jasidih Passenger, 73581/73582 Jasidih-Banka Passenger had to be cancelled and some Mail/Express trains  were delayed enroute. (EOIC)
