The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today filed supplementary charge sheet in the Kharagrah blast case at a city court against three more accused.

Among the two accused Md Rubel and Sahidul Sk are residents of Bangladesh and Jahidul Sk is from Assam. The charges against the accused involve waging war against the State. They were arrested by Kolkata police in September 2016 and has been in custody since then. “Investigation has revealed that they were part of the overall conspiracy,” Tamal Kanti Mukherjee senior special prosecutor of NIA said. This is the fourth supplementary charge sheet filed by the NIA. The blast at Khargragah in Bardhaman town on October 2, 2014 had exposed a network of activities of Jamait-e-Mujahideen Bangladesh who were operating in West Bengal and adjoining states.

The  first charge sheet filed by the NIA  in March 2015  against 21 persons claimed  that a “network of terrorist training camps were found to be operating at selected madrasas and other hideouts, where chosen youths were indoctrinated in the violent jihadi ideology and trained for violent action using explosives and firearms.” So far about 30 persons have been accused in the case.
