Medical camp at Raidighi in South 24 Parganas by Indian Navy

As a precursor to Navy Week Celebration 2018, Indian Navy conducted another Medical Camp at Raidhighi (south 24 Parganas) organized by INS Netaji Subhas under the aegis of NOIC West Bengal for the local populace and fishermen community in particular today. Through this outreach programme the Indian Navy will bring about awareness in the general public about the role and task of the Navy and also encourage youngsters to consider Navy as a career. Though medical camps by Indian Navy is conducted every year, this year the camp has been held in conjunction with the Community Interaction Programme (CIP) for the fishing community who are ‘eyes and ears’ of coastal security mechanism.
            A medical team comprising two Medical Officers including a lady doctor, eight para-medical staff and two senor sailors from INS Netaji subhas have been instrumental in the conduct of the camp. The doctors conducted outpatient consultation for medical, surgical, pediatric, eye, ENT, skin and cardiology ailments, followed by distribution of medicines. People were also educated on measures to be adopted to prevent spread of vector-borne diseases and made aware regarding organ donation drive. Nearly 500 people benefited by the medical camp which was amply supported by the local administration and several volunteers.
