Ajay Vijayvargiya, General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata visited Noapara Car depot on Saturday. He, accompanied by Principal Heads of the Departments and other senior officers inspected maintenance and periodic overhauling (POH) work of rakes in the carshed. He also inspected the rehabilitation work of old non-AC rakes in this carshed.
During inspection, the General Manager stressed upon proper maintenance of rakes, safety of passengers and cleanliness in metro rakes. He directed the officers to take effective measures so that the services are not disrupted and passengers are not inconvenienced in any way.
To ensure the safety of electrical equipments, Mr Vijayvargiya inaugurated a Modern Electrical Device-'Relay Test Console'.
Many of the failures of doors are due to leaning of passengers on metro doors as well as stopping of closures of the door deliberately by a section of passengers. The General Manager urged upon the commuters to avoid such acts. He also stressed upon the cleanliness both inside and outside of metro rakes.
While cleaning the metro compartments, packets of food wrappers are being found regularly inside the compartments. The General Manager requested the commuters not to litter the metro compartments and avoid spitting inside the compartments, specially the vestibule area. (EOIC)
