Metro Rly holds 4th MRUCC meeting

The 4th Metro Railway Users’ Consultative Committee Meeting was held at Metro Rail Bhavan on Wednesday, July 12 where Members Parash Dutta (MLA), Mala Banerjee, President, Federation of Consumer Associations, West Bengal and  Ranajoy Chakraborty, representative of government of West Bengal and Vishwesh Chaubey, general manager as well as senior officers of Metro Railway  were present.
Welcoming the members, Chaubey sought their valuable suggestions for further improvement of Metro Services and discussed about the facilities to be provided in times to come to cope with the demands of the commuters. The Metro Railway general manager also informed the committee members that toilets have been constructed at four Metro stations- Noapara, Belgachia, Sovabazar-Sutanati and Shahid Kshudiram. The construction work of the first phase of East-West Metro will be completed by June, 2018 and the entire project by 2020.
He also shared the information that 16 new AC rakes from ICF Chennai and China will arrive shortly. The members expressed their satisfaction with the existing services and punctuality of Metro and suggested that effective measures may be taken for commercialisation of Metro Stations in line with European Metros to make Kolkata Metro economically viable.
