Railways' initiatives for augmenting passenger amenities

The Indian Railways have adopted a series of measures in recent times for augmenting passenger comfort and amenities.
The initiatives include introduction of 87 new train services, extension of journey of journey of 51 trains and rise in frequency of five trains. 586 coaches were attached to regular trains which raised the capacity to 43,420 berths. The Railways also offered 31,438 trips of special trains introduced on different occasions. Capacity of reserved berths was also increased to about 50 crore by adding about 1 crore more berths.
Apart from these, 350 trains were speeded up and 104 trains were converted to superfast expresses.
