Railways post highest ever performance in infrastructure creation

In infrastructure creation, Indian Railways has made a mark by creating a record during 2016-17. In the following area, Indian Railways progress sets a record which is the highest ever progress achieved in a single year i.e. 2016-17.
Total 2855 kms of new lines, gauge conversion and double lines have been commissioned which is the highest ever magnitude of construction work achieved in a year. Out of 2855 kms, 953 kms of new lines have been commissioned in 2016-17 which is also the highest ever. The entire meter gauge has been converted to broad gauge in the North-East region of the country.
2013 kms of electrification of railway track has been done against the stiff target of 2000 kms which is also the highest ever performance achieved by Indian Railways. 1503 unmanned level crossings were eliminated which also sets a record in the history of Indian Railways.
1306 road overbridges and sub-ways were completed which is also the highest ever. 484 manned level crossings were eliminated which is the highest ever performance achieved by the Indian Railways. 750 bridges were rehabilitated signifying a highest ever performance. 45 freight terminals were commissioned which is the highest ever performance of Indian Railways achieved in a single year. The average is about 27.
658 locomotives were manufactured in comparison to 621 manufactured in the last year i.e. 2015-16. Here also Indian Railways sets a record. 4280 passenger coaches were manufactured as against 3978 manufactured in the last year i.e.2015-16 which is the highest ever manufacturing passenger coaches.
