SBI organized ‘Corporate Governance Workshop’

To kickstart structured deliberations on Corporate Governance issues within the public-sector banking fraternity and chalk out a framework to address these issues, State Bank of India recently organised a one-day workshop on corporate governance at its premier training facility – State Bank Institute of Leadership in Kolkata. The event was inaugurated by Rajnish Kumar, Chairman, SBI. During the workshop he emphasised on the need to formalise a framework for discussions and exchange of best practices on this area of key importance.
The workshop was graced by the esteem presence of MDs and Directors of SBI, MD & CEOs / EDs of PSBs in India as well as from Bangladesh & Nepal along with Heads of all Joint Venture companies of SBI.
SBI Chairman at the workshop also emphasized on, the importance of regularly carrying out such workshops to ensure continuous focus and collective discourse on the subject.
The inaugural address was followed by a presentation on corporate governance & value creation (key elements & global learning’s). Panel discussions were also organised on board composition & charter/ role of boards and enablers to help boards balance between performance and health. The panellists included eminent experts and thought leaders. The invitees were addressed by M. Damodaran, ex-Chairman, SEBI on the ‘Role of Boards in Challenging times’. (EOIC)
