Seminar on green initiatives held by ER

A presentation on green building & green rating certification was held at Eastern Railway’s Headquarters, Fairlie Place recently. The objective of the presentation is to interact with the Indian Green Council authorities in framing an action plan for making Eastern Railway a green railway system and for achieving Green Rate Certification for major establishments of Eastern Railway in a phased manner.
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) authorities in their presentation indicated the modalities for Eastern Railway in making it a green Railway system and interacted with the Eastern Railway officials. The IGBC authorities appreciated Eastern Railway’s endeavour to improve energy efficiency & cleanliness.
Ravinder Gupta, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Sanjay Gehlot, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Ram Prakash, Chief Safety Officer and U. K. Bal, Senior Deputy General Manager alongwith other principal heads of departments were present in the interactive seminar with the Indian Green Building Council.
Later, the officials of IGBC met Harindra Rao, General Manager, Eastern Railway & discussed about Eastern Railway’s certification process. Railway establishments including different administrative buildings, major Railway hospitals, major Railway stations, major Railway schools, Railway Training Institutions and major Railway Workshops are included in the action plan in transforming Eastern Railway a green Railway system.
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is the only certification body in India authorized for issue of Green Rate Certification. Railway Board had instructed all major establishments of Indian Railways to be certified with Green Rating Certificates. (EOIC)
