SER’s undertakes vigilance drives to curb touting activities

The Vigilance Department of South Eastern Railway in assistance with RPF personnel is continuing intensive drives to check touting activities at Computerised Reservation Counters and other Ticket Booking Counters in this festive month. During the drives, SER’s Vigilance team made surprise checks at the Reservation counters of various stations over its jurisdiction.  On 23.10.2017 at about 11.00 hrs at Mecheda Station of Kharagpur Division, one person named Santanu Maity, aged 24 years was apprehended while moving suspiciously near the Tatkal Counter. On checking, two Tatkal tickets, one unused but expired PRS ticket, two reservation requisition slips duly filled up, 3 ATM cards and one Credit card and  cash of Rs. 2140 along with copies of several ID proofs were recovered from him. The person admitted that he is running a touting business at Mecheda illegally. All the documents and cash were seized by the RPF and the person has been arrested.
In a similar raid, the Vigilance Organisation of South Eastern Railway along with RPF staff also conducted a check at Balasore station of Kharagpur division of this railway today at about 9.00 hrs. Near the Tatkal counter, a person named Anand Kumar Mohanty, aged 21 years was apprehended while moving suspiciously. On checking, 5 unused journey-cum reservation tickets, 1 reservation requisition slip and cash of Rs. 840 were recovered from him. He is reportedly working for a local travel agency.
This drive of apprehending touts is meant to reduce harassment and inconvenience to general public in getting railway tickets which will continue till the forthcoming Chhat puja. (EOIC)
