Union minister of state for heavy industry and public enterprises Babul Supriyo today lashed out at the state ministers, MPs and MLAs in general and labour minister  Moloy Ghatak for skipping the event where he was an invitee and speaker.
"The state ministers and MPs are simply insulting the country’s federal structure.  They are so busy these days that attending an event becomes difficult for them", Supriyo said at the function of Employees' State Insurance Corporation for the inauguration of their new regional office building at Salt Lake and foundation laying for two new hospitals at Baltikuri in Howrah and Durgapur. Taking a dig at Ghatak, the minister said: "I am very disappointed particularly with Malayda because I personally had called him up and requested him to attend today's programme but he simply skipped. I believe when you need to complaint it should be loud enough to reach the concerned person. So today I am making a loud complaint against him from this stage". Supriyo also alleged that it was due to non co-operation from the end of the state labour minister that work for ESI hospital in Asansol, inauguration of which was done last year, has not started yet.

"We have waited a lot for him. Today after this event we were supposed to sit together and finalise the design of the hospital but since he has not turned up I am announcing right now that we will go ahead with project and work will start within very short span of time". Speaking to newspersons after the programme, he said: "The TMC leaders are seeing everything as a state versus Centre battle, when both the governments should work by joining hands with each other. After becoming minister I had urged chief minister Mamata Banerjee to write to the Centre for sanctioning Rs five crore for building an ESI Hospital in Asansol. She then said Rs five crore won't be enough and responding to the state government's request the then Union labour minister sanctioned a much bigger sum. Then the state government suggested some changes in the project and we accepted that. But now, in spite of Centre’s positive response, its ministers and MPs are not extending any co-operation. What else is this other than insulting the federal structure of the country? They will accuse the Centre of depriving West Bengal but won't cooperate with the Centre  when it is doing something worthwhile for the people. This is deplorable."
Union labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya, who was the chief guest, also criticised the absence of the state minister and Trinamool Congress MPs. "This is a programme for the workers. There is nothing political here. I feel they should have come. This is very unfortunate". Apart from Ghatak, minister Rajib Banerjee, TMC MPs Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Prasun Banerjee, Sunil Mondal, Mamtaz Sanghamitra and Debabrata Bandopadhyay, MLA Sujit Bose and mayor of Salt Lake Municipality Sabyasachi Dutta had been invited.  Supriyo also tried to downplay the arrest of IT cell secretary of BJP's Asansol unit. Refuting the charges that Asansol BJP leader Tarun Sengupta has been seen with him on several occasions.  "Many people come to meet me every day. It is not possible to recognise everyone. You can check my previous tweets where I have clearly mentioned that posting anything that encourages tension is condemnable. I must also point out that the state government is always looking for an opportunity to slap charges on people associated with the BJP".
