UBI observes Vigilance Awareness Week

In terms of direction of Central Vigilance Commission, United Bank of India (UBI) observed Vigilance Awareness Week, 2018 from October 29 to November 3 with the theme “Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India”.
As a part of outreach activities sensitizing the common mass against the menace of corruption, a “Walkathon” was organised on 3rd November 2018 with participation of employees from head office, Kolkata (South) Region and Kolkata (North) Region. The walkathon was led by Arun Kumar Verma, chief vigilance officer, general managers and executives from head office and regional offices. The gathering saw whole hearted participation of around 700 employees including several lady officials, holding banners, placards and hand outs against corruption. Similar Walkathons were held in New Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Purba Medinipur and various venues across the country.
Many other outreach activities like gram sabha meetings in rural and semi-urban branches in our bank and also in four Regional Rural Banks were conducted during the week. Debates, Seminars, workshops, quiz competitions, essay/drawing competitions on the theme “Eradicate Corruption- Build a New India” were also conducted in schools and colleges across the country.
