2 students drown at Collinpur beach, LG condoles tragic demise

Picnic turned tragedy for two students on Wednesday when they drowned in rough waters at Collinpur beach. According to reports, 17 year old Ritesh Ram and Anjan Kumar Nag, both residents of Ferrargunj were on an excursion trip to Collinpur when the incident occurred.
As per information, the group of six students went to Collinpur at around 9.30 am today. Barring the victims, all the four were playing at the beach when Ritesh and Anjan went for swimming. Ritesh, 17, appeared for the Class XII board exams this year while Anjan, son of Krishnapado Nag was just 16, a student of class X. Riptides dragged both of them into deep waters at around 30 mtrs from the shore. Their friends raised an alarm after which the Police team led by the Dy. SP of the region rushed to the spot. A Coast Guard chopper, Police Marine Force and the fire services team launched a joint rescue operation after which the bodies of the two were recovered.

The Lt Governor of A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has expressed his deep condolence over the tragic death of two school students at Collinpur beach due to drowning. In an official release, the Lt Governor has expressed his deep condolences to the members of bereaved families.
