Salkia’s philanthropic organization imparts yoga training at tea-gardens

Salkia Shree Seba Foundation, a Howrah based charitable organization headed by an acclaimed yoga therapist and dietician Supriya Sinha to celebrate the Bengali new year in uniquely philanthropic ways. Meeting the underprivileged tribal kids and women from different tea-gardens in Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar Sinha and her foundation rendered yoga services to them and explained the benefits of regular yoga practices.
On April 15 Sinha along with the foundation members went to Toonbari tea-estate at Malbazar in Jalpaiguri district and after distributing tiffin boxes and pencil boxes among 30 kids they arranged a yoga camp for the women so far unexposed to proven oriental exercise.
Totopara inhabited by orthodox Toto families were met by the foundation members with the help of Bokul Toto, secretary of Toto kalyan samity on April 17. “We are glad to have received cooperation from the additional SP of Jaigaon and officer-in-charge of Madarihat police station. They arranged an escort for us during our trip to Totopara,” Sinha said.
The turnout of Toto women at the yoga camp was encouraging as Sinha said. She and her foundation members also prepared a diet chart for women and kids at Totopara.
“We have several plans to uplift the life and health of underprivileged people from such areas,” the Salkia Shree Seba Foundation president said. (EOIC)
