State minister of state for health and family welfare Chandrima Bhattacharya today claimed that Trinamool Congress would win both of the Lok Sabha (LS) seats in Malda. Bhattacharya’s assertion has many fold significances as believed by the political observers of the district.
Bhattacharya, who is also the state president of women wing of Trinamool Congress, attended a meeting of the district committee at Malda College auditorium today. Prior to attending the political programme the minister paid a visit to Malda medical college & hospital (MMCH) and expressed satisfaction with the services rendered there.
A section of relatives of patients tried to ventilate their grievances about the alleged unsatisfactory treatment at MMCH. Kaushik Bhattacharya, district magistrate quickly managed the situation and assured that names of those patients were noted down so that their problems could be quickly addressed by MMCH authority.
While taking a round of ‘Matri Ma’(maternity) ward of the hospital Bhattacharya said, “All possible care of pregnant women and newborns are being taken here. We are glad that the patients are receiving proper services here.”
She, however, blamed the erstwhile state government for the crisis of doctors in hospital. “Left Front, while running the state government, virtually collapsed the infrastructure. We are bearing the consequence,” the health & fw MOS said.
Later, Bhattacharya headed toward Malda College auditorium to attend the district women Trinamool committee’s programme.
“Our party has performed excellently in Malda in rural polls. It suggests that Trinamool candidates would win both the LS seats in Malda. Women workers of the party would move door to door to campaign for our candidates,” she said.
State transport minister and district Trinamool observer Subhendu Adhikari too asserted earlier that Trinamool would be contesting from both the LS seats in Malda along with the rest of the seats.
“Bhattacharya is very close to Trinamool supremo and the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. If we analyse her comment after what Subhendu Adhikari said, it is clear that Trinamool, under no circumstances, would apply all its strength not to let Congress win from Malda north and south LS seats. Both the seats now are now held by the Congress and members of Ghani family  to be precise. The statements from Trinamool leaders of state level suggest that either the sitting Congress MPs have to join the Trinamool or they would have to face strong resistance from the ruling party,” a political observer said.
It may be mentioned that recently the Congress MPs from Malda AH Khan Choudhury and Mausam Noor supported the ruling party during formation of panchayet boards they also praised the CM’s Europe tour to fetch foreign investments in state.
