8 Dec 2017

District Congress gheraoed district primary school council (DPSC) and served a deputation to its chairman Asis Kundu demanding that all empanelled candidates of 2009-2010 had to be recruited teachers of primary schools in the district following a verdict reportedly passed by the high court in September, 2017.
Congress MLAs Isha Khan Choudhury, Sabina Yeasmin, Bhupendranath Haldar and others took out a long rally with the empanelled candidates awaiting appointment letter.
District Congress general secretaries Kalisadhan Roy, Narendranath Tiwary, Hemanta Sharma and others also joined the demonstration of the candidates seeking appointment in primary schools.
Saibal Mandal, a candidate said, “Despite the high court’s verdict DPSC chairman has been citing one after another lame excuses delaying our appointment. He sought several papers from us. All those papers were submitted to his office. Still he has not been complying with the high court’s order.”
Sabina Yeasmin said, “We are with the helpless candidates who are already empanelled for appointment. Our mentor late Ghani Khan Choudhury fought all his life against unemployment. Following his principles district Congress would be supporting the valid demands of those candidates qualified for appointment in primary schools in the district.”
Sharma, a general secretary of district Congress threatened that they would resort to larger stir if the demand of the empanelled candidates were overlooked.
Kundu said, “We are looking into the matter and seeking legal advices about the issue.” (EOIC)
