Father hit by eve-teasers for protesting daughter's humiliation

Miscreants attempted to kill one Abdul Hoque (45), of Laxmipur village under Baishnabnagar police station today as he had warned them against torture his daughter on her way to school regularly.
Hoque was admitted to Malda medical college and hospital with severe injuries. His condition is stated to be critical. His family lodged a written complaint against the prime accused and three others. But they fled after the incident.
Mainul Hoque, brother of the injured said, "My niece is a student of a local school. But Ruhul Amin and his gang disturbed her on way to school. They threw lewd comments at her and sometimes even tried to molest her."
"When my elder brother Abdul Hoque, who works with a tobacco company warned culprits, they had threatened him with dire consequences. Today they attacked my brother with sharp weapons and tried to kill him. My brother is seriously injured and the doctors cannot guarantee whether he would recover soon," he added.
In a different incident, a minor boy was attempted to be killed by his neighbour following a scuffle over drainage of waste-water. The incident took place at Sattari area under English Bazaar police station today.
The injured student Anjul Momin (11) was rushed to Malda Medical College and hospital. His father Danesh Momin alleged that Anjul was injured by neighbour Khabiruddin Momin and his sons.
"Waste-water from Khabiruddin's house drains through my house making it an obnoxious experience for us. Our repeated pleas yielded no result. Today when the dirty water was flowing through our house, I protested. It was then Khabiruddin and his sons attacked me. They hit my son's head with sharp weapons when he came to my rescue," Ramesh Momin said.
He lodged a written complaint against Khabiruddin and his sons.
Arnab Ghosh, SP, Malda said that in both cases police had started a probe. "The accused would be arrested," he said.
