Golden success for Malda kids on international platform to be hailed by civic body, book-fair committee
Shining the face of the state 11 juvenile kids from the district won 20 medals including 11 gold medals in an international sports festival held in Midnapore (East) recently. South asia International Sports festival that commenced in Haldia on 31 December last year was attended by the competitors from Afghanistan and Malaysia as well along with candidates from almost all provinces of the country. In the sports festival 20 juvenile participants from Malda along with others from different district in the state competed in events like martial arts, taekwondo, kick-boxing, kata etc. Out of those 20 kids from Malda alone Alankrita Das, Sreyashi Sharma, Arindam sarkar, Swapnil Debgupta, Balraj Reddy, Tapesh Koramudi, Ankurima Bose, Koushiki Bose, Soumili Choudhury, Sumedha Pal and Adrija Gupta won gold medals right on the first day of the year. Five silver and four bronze medals were won by the tinny-tots as well. The students of the state represented Taekwondo camp of Bengal Area.
The unprecedented performances by the kids from the districts have been appreciated by the district administrations and civic administrations. Dulal Sarkar, the officiating chairman of Englisdh Bazaar municipality said, “Those kids of gold have lifted the face of the district in the international map in the field of martial arts. We are going to felicitate them in a befitting manner.”
Amlan Bhaduri, the joint secretary of district book fair committee also said that the medal-winners would be honoured in the stage of the book fair for earning laurel for the district.
Guardians of those gold-winning kids credited the success to Ramashish Das, the coach who relentlessly prepared the young talents on an international platform. (EOIC)
