Housewife accused of assaulting husband, in-laws and looting cash, valuables

Contrary to the common trend of torturing housewives by husbands a in laws, a youth and his parents lodged a  complaint with English Bazaar police station today alleging that his wife along with some goons looted  cash and valuables from his house last night.
Jishu Sarkar, a resident of Purba Deshbandhu Para under English Bazaar police station in his complaint has alleged that his wife Sonali Sarkar roughed him up and his parents.
Son of a retired state government employee Santosh Sarkar, Jiishu married Sonali Chowdhury of Mangalbari area under Malda police station four years ago. Jishu alleged that since their marriage Sonali started asking her husband and in-laws to bequeath all movable and immovable properties to her.
“As we refused to comply with her demands, she threatened us to lodge false police complaints. She used to spend most of the time outside and return home late at night. Last night she came to our house with some goons and started roughing me and my parents. She with help of those miscreants looted jewelry and cash breaking the wardrobe,” the youth said.
“She and her henchmen beat us severely and went away with our three-year old daughter leaving us injured,” he alleged. Later, he lodged  a complaint against 10 persons including his wife Sonali, her brother Pankaj Chowdhury and mother Pratima Chowdhury.
No reaction could be obtained from the housewife.
Purnendu Kundu, inspector-in-charge of English Bazaar police station said, “We have received a complaint of domestic violence against a housewife. A probe has been initiated.” (EOIPC)
