Malda GRP rescue abducted minor girl

A minor girl of Bhotbari area under Mekhliganj police station in Cooch Behar district, who had allegedly been abducted by three youths of Malda on Thursday, was rescued in an unconscious state by government railway police (GRP) personnel from down Saraighat Express and kept in a shelter home. Police have started searches for mail accused Pintu Sheikh of Kaliachak and his gang. Meanwhile, administrative process has been started to hand over the minor girl to her family members.
Sofia Bewa, mother of the abducted Bulbuli Khatun, 15, a student of class VIII alleged that the minor girl was drugged and kidnapped by Pintu Sheikh and his group while she was going to a bank to withdraw her stipend of Kanyashree scheme on Thursday.
"Pintu and his group were working at a site of installing mobile tower at our locality. Pintu was abusing my daughter for few days and even tried to force her for marriage. As Bulbuli refused, Pintu and his group kidnapped my daughter," she said.
Anwar Sadat, uncle of the rescued minor girl alleged that Bulbuli was first abducted and then forcibly made consume sleeping pills after she was put in a tran compartment. "When the train reached Malda, GRP personnel spotted the unconscious girl and intervened. It was then Pintu and his henchmen fled," he said.
GRP sent the girl to shelter home of social welfare department. The girl was sent to Malda medical college & hospital on Friday after she fell ill again. Home authority contacted her family and started process of the girl's return to them.
The girls’ family demanded strong punishment for the accused. Police officials said that measures were taken to search and arrest the accused.
