Migrant labourer arrested by Mumbai police for killing relative

Mumbai police arrested a migrant labourer from Malda in a cinematic style today. The labourer identified as Sobu Sheikh, 41 was accused of killing his brother in law six days ago in Mumbai.
It has been learnt from sources that the accused from Rajnagar Khoar More area under English Bazaar police station went to Mumbai long back to work as a construction labourer. His brother in law Rahim Muslim Sheikh from Rajmahal district in Jharkhand joined him later. The duo reportedly shared a room.
On July 24 they had a tiff between them and Sobu Sheikh in a fit of anger hit Muslim Sheikh with a heavy weapon. Sensing that Muslim had died Sobu allegedly ran away.
As Mumbai police started a probe, they came to know that the accused left for Kolkata by train. A team of Mumbai police reached Kolkata by air and followed him by train.
The Mumbai police team reached Malda on Sunday and with help of English Bazaar police arrested Sobu Sheikh before he could reach his village.
Sheikh was produced in court on Monday and taken into transit remand.
Purnendu Kundu, inspector-in-charge of English Bazaar police station said that he would be further grilled by Mumbai police. (EOIPC)
