She was allegedly raped first and when her mother went to protest against the incident, the family members of the accused not only abused her but ransacked her house too. The incident caused sparks at Nichupara area adjacent to Rabindra Bhawan under English Bazaar police station this morning. A minor girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour Shyamal Roy, a youth in his early twenties last night.
It has been learnt from local sources that the minor girl’s father is a car-driver and stays in Kolkata. Her mother working as a cook was not present too at the time of the incident. It has been alleged that the accused went to the minor girl’s house on Saturday evening and finding the kid alone there allegedly raped her.
After she came back from work at night, the kid’s mother came to know everything from her daughter. This morning she rushed to house of the accused to seek his statement. But she alleged that the accused and his family not only denied the allegation but ransacked her house too.
Meanwhile, locals gathered near the minor girl’s house and raised demands for arrest and punishment of the culprit. Police rushed to the spot and registered the statement from the minor and her mother. The accused had fled by then.
Some dwellers of the locality alleged that the accused had a vile attitude towards women. Madhurima Pal, a local woman said that the youth’s approach to women was humiliating. However, the family members of the accused alleged that allegation was false and made in connection with an old quarrel between them and the minor girl’s family.
Police said that a probe was started into the complaints. The accused would be arrested. The minor girl would be sent for medical test.
