RPF rescue 12 minors before being sent to other state

As many as 12 kids aged 10 to 13 years were found by RPF from near Malda town station this afternoon. One person identified as Tariqul Sheikh, who was reportedly escorting them to some other state, was arrested. It is being suspected that those minors were being trafficked with an evil motive. RPF officials have been asking those kids of their whereabouts and purpose of going away with an unknown person, The matter was informed to English Bazaar police also.
It has been learnt from sources that a group of underage boys were found standing near the ticket counter of the station this afternoon. RPF personnel out of curiosity started asking their whereabouts and the purpose of waiting there. Incongruous replies from those kids aggravated the RPF jawans’ suspicions that they were being trafficked.
While those kids were being taken to RPF office in the station, one person standing with them tried to flee. RPF personnel detained him immediately and later arrested him as learnt from sources.
Primary interrogation revealed that those kids from Motilalpur and Talgachhi villages of Doulatpur gram panchayet under Harischandrapur police station were brought to Malda town station with an eye on trafficking them to some other state.
It is being suspected that parents of those kids were paid hefty sum by the arrested agent for taking them to other state. The agent would be grilled to learn about the motive of so many kids together to other state, a RPF official said.
Krishnagopal Dutta, inspector-in-charge of GRP (Government railway police) said, “RPF detained few kids from near Malda station today. The matter is being looked into.”
