Sahitya Akamedi awardee Afsar Ahmed to inaugurate 29th Malda book fair

29th district book fair would be inaugurated on January 17 at Malda College ground by Afsar Ahmed, the Sahitya Akademi laureate in 2017.
A mass-convention was held in town hall to discuss about the arrangement of Malda book fair which is unofficially considered to be the second largest book fair of the state after famous Kolkata book fair. Kaushik Bhattacharya, DM of Malda, Arnab Ghosh, SP and other administrative officials along with book-lovers, organizers and library officials were present in the convention today.
Joint convener of Malda book fair committee Amlan Bhaduri said; “There would be nearly 220 stalls including 150 book stalls. Publishers from India and Bangladesh are expected to participate in the book fair. The book fair would start on Jan 17 and continue up to Jan 24.”Sumala Agarwalla, one of the key organizers of the book fair pulling gigantic crowd said: “Along with publishers we have invited renowned personalities from cultural and academic arenas.
Kohinoor Sen Barat, veteran dance artiste, Bodhirupa Sengupta, principal of Santiniketan’s Patha Bhawan, Swami Divyananda, trustee and governing body member of Ramakrishna Math & Mission would be among the star-speakers and performers in the book fair.” (EOIC)
