Three died while collecting poppy-skins from well-deep septic tank

Three persons were killed in a bid to collect poppy-skins from under a well-deep septic-tank where they had allegedly kept those hidden before selling in clandestine market. Two other persons reportedly fell ill while attempting to rescue them. The incident took place at Mominpara village of Shahabajpur gram panchayet under Kaliachak police station last night.
It has been learnt from police sources that three deceased were identified as Robi Momin, 30, Kausar Momin, 30 and Ansarul Momin, 33. According to locals, they used to deposit poppy-skins used for manufacturing narcotics under a septic-tank at the back of their houses.
After getting offers to buy those poppy-skins Robi first got into the septic-tank to get pick those narcotic ingredients last night. But as he did not came out, Kausar and then Ansarul too entered into the septic-tank. As all three remained there for quite a long time, their family members sought help from the neighbours. The locals tried to rescue those three persons but in vain. Meanwhile, two other villagers fell ill while trying to take those three persons out. They were taken to local health centre and released after primary treatments.
Police were informed and a team of police rushed to the spot. Eventually, the three persons, when took out of the septic tank, were found dead.
A senior police official said that three bodies were sent for autopsy. A probe was started into the matter. (EOIC)
