Senior Trinamool Congress leader and state minister Subrata Mukherjee  ignored the proposal of Congress-Trinamool alliance floated by Congress MP Mausam Noor on November 1.
However, Mukherjee said that Noor and other descendants of late Ghani Khan Choudhury would be accorded welcome if they were keen to join Trinamool to fight against BJP.
Mukherjee as a part of his tour to different districts to peruse functioning of panchayet and rural development department reached Malda today. He held a meeting with the key officials of district and rural administration.
“Trinamool Congress is the only option in West Bengal if one likes to fight against communalism of BJP. I have heard that Mausam Noor pleaded for an alliance between Congress and Trinamool Congress. It is her opinion. We have nothing to comment on this,” Mukherjee said.
However, he indirectly left a message for Noor that the door of Trinamool was open for her. “We have deep respect for late Ghani Khan Choudhury. He was a secular politician all along. If his descendants also want to fight against BJP strongly in West Bengal and decide to join Trinamool, they are always welcome,” he added.
Mukherjee said that however the final decision would be taken by none other than the Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee.
Expressing content with functioning of panchayet & rural development department in Malda the minister said, “We are happy with the performance of the officials and employees of our department in Malda.”
He also slammed the brutal killing of five innocent Bengali speaking citizens in Tinsukia district of Assam recently. “It shows that the state government is incompetent to prevent such massacre,” he said.
