Open scuffle between two youth Trinamool Congress leaders during an organizational meeting left state Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) president Jaya Dutta and other senior Trinamool leaders red-faced today. Although district youth Trinamool president Amlan Bhaduri claimed that the small matter would be buried soon, a block youth Trinamool president Biswajit Mandal had already informed his assault by Bhaduri’s supporters to state president Abhishek Banerjee. Mandal went to Malda medical college & hospital with complaints of several injuries this evening.
Jaya Dutta was in Malda today to attend a preparatory meeting of TMCP’s foundation day in Kolkata on August 28. District Trinamool chief Dr Moazzem Hossain, youth unit president Bhaduri, two former ministers Sabitri Mitra and Krishnendu Choudhry and all senior leaders were present in the meeting at Malda College auditorium this afternoon.
While Bhaduri was delivering his speech, Mandal dramatically started shouting and alleging that he was roughed up by English Bazaar youth Trinamool leader Suvradeep Das and few others. Mandal started seeking justice from Dutta and other district party leaders. Embarrassed leaders urged him to calm down and assured to look into the matter afterwards.
Mandal alleged, “When I was leaving the meeting, Das again attacked me and another youth Trinamool leaders. I was knocked down by him. I want justice from party.” In evening he went to hospital complaining of severe pain.
Das, on the other hand, said, “Mandal and few others were in a mood of spoiling the meeting. So, he was warned only. Nothing more happened.”
Jaya Dutta, however, urged all factions to work together to make TMCP’s foundation day a grand success.
Bhaduri said, “Nothing worth mentioning happened. There was an altercation between two youth leaders over entering the meeting. The matter would be resolved soon.”
