Week-long Christmas celebration in English Bazaar by civic body

English Bazaar municipality (EBM) is going to hold mega Christmas festival from Dec 25 to Dec 31 following desires and instructions of chief minister Mamata Banerjee and urban development & municipal affairs minister For bad Hakim.
Nihar Ghosh, EBM chairman and vice chairman Dulal Sarkar held a meeting with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to plan the mega festival today.
Later, Ghosh and Sarkar jointly briefed the media that the entire stretch of the road between statue of Iswarchandra Vidyasagar at ward no. 24 and statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra at ward no. 10 of English Bazaar civic body would be illuminated during the festival.
Moreover, traffic along Netaji Subhas Road and Rabindra Avenue would be suspended during the festival so that citizens can enjoy the Christmas carnival uninterrupted.
"There would be a stage at Foara More where cultural programmes would be performed in evening along the week," Ghosh said.
"Temporary stalls would be made along the road to sell popular Christmas items like cakes, balloons, chocolates, candles etc," EBM chairman added.
Sarkar, the vice chairman said that NGOs were requested to take up anti-plastic campaign during the festival.
