A youth was arrested after chairman of District Primary School Council (DPSC) Ashish Kundu lodged a police complaint that his signature was forged to issue an appointment letter for teaching in a primary school at Pandua under Gazole police station yesterday.
Considering the serious complaint police arrested Dulal Hossain of Radhanagar village under Ratua police station on Monday night. He was charged under sections 420, 464, 468, 469 and 471 of the IPC and produced in court today.
Kundu, who assumed charge of Malda DPSC chief on July 3, anticipated that an active racket might have been active behind the youth who tried to join as primary school teacher by counterfeiting his signature.
It has been learnt from police sources that Hossain went to Akalpur primary school under Pandua circle in Gazole yesterday and produced an appointment letter directing the school authorities to ensure his joining by August 24. Headmaster of the school, however, doubted authenticity of the appointment letter and informed employees of school inspector’s office. Their perusal proved that the appointment letter was not genuine and DPSC head’s signature was inefficiently replicated.
Kundu, who is in Orsissa now to write his final semester papers of LLM examinations, was informed. He immediately informed police via e-mail and urged to take a quick action against the youth. Police eventually arrested him last night.
“I was initially stupefied seeing the copy of the forged appointment letter. Even he dared to imitate my signature. I believe that it’s only the tip of the iceberg. A racket may have been behind the curtain. Whoever it may be, strong action would follow as our leader and chief minister Mamata Banerjee is determined to ensure a corruption free administration in state,” Kundu said over phone.
Arnab Ghosh, SP, Malda said, “A youth was arrested for attempting to join a primary school as a teacher with false appointment letter and counterfeiting signature of DPSC chairman. We are probing to know if he was assisted by others.”
