Youth handed over to police for alleged attempt to manhandle an advocate

A person was handed over to police allegedly for having attempted to assault a lawyer at court compound in English Bazaar today. Bipul Dutta, an advocate and member of Malda bar association alleged that Ratan Sarkar, the accused was a dismissed assistant sub inspector of police and had indulged in bank-fraud.
“Sarkar purchased a flat at Barwaritala lane of Mokdumpur area with a loan from a nationalized bank. I prepared the deed on behalf of the flat-seller against which the loan was sanctioned. Recently, I came to know that by counterfeiting the same deed he loaned from two other nationalized bank too. I lodged a written complaint against him with English Bazaar police station,” Dutta said.
“By this time Sarkar produced a degree in law and applied for membership of Malda bar association which I objected. My objection was considered by officials of bar association. Today he came to court and tried to assault me physically. I was saved by my colleagues who handed him over to police,” the complainant lawyer said.
Police said that the accused was detained and the matter was being looked into.
