Namsoong tribal festival inaugurated at Mangan

The state level tribal Namsoong festival was inaugurated by  Pintsho Chopel Lepcha, MLA who was also the chief guest. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include   Deputy speaker of the state assembly and local  MLA, Sonam Gyatsho Lepcha, chairman SNT, Pintsho Lepcha, upadhyaksha, North, Theney Bhutia, DM(N), Karma R Bonpo, Professor, Delhi university, Prakash Patnaik, Sr SP(N), SDM Dzongu, joint director, welfare department, CDPO Dzongu, guests from Maharashtra and West Bengal. The programme is being organised by Tribal Research Institute of the department of social justice, empowerment and  welfare in collaboration with Namprikdang Namsoong Celebration Committee (NNCC) funded by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt of India.
The dignitaries were welcomed by Norden Lepcha, the host of the programme.
Professor Patnaik of  Delhi university in his address said that the tradition, culture and language of any community is not superior or inferior and every community must preserve their tradition, culture and language. (EOIC)
