Adolescent Camp to promote wellbeing of girl child formed at GSS Webi

An Adolescent Camp, Kishori Club was formed at Govt. Secondary School, Webi, Mayabunder under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) recently. The constitution of the Club is aimed at creating awareness among the girl students of Class IX and X and stakeholders towards the social, physical and psychological wellbeing of girl child in the society.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt P Saida Bibi called upon all girl students to actively participate in various cultural and sporting events to be organised by the club.  Resource persons from different fields were invited for the function to guide and counsel students on various topics. Mr Rakesh Singh, Station House Officer, PS Mayabunder spoke about police activities, issues relating to female child, POCSO Act, child rights, child trafficking, acid attacks etc.
Social workers like Rev Saw Saytha, Karen Welfare Society, Mayabunder and Saw Lashi, Panchayat member spoke about the benefits of delayed marriages, importance of higher studies, social evils and spiritual ways to counter stress. Physicians from Dr RP hospital Mayabunder, Dr. Karishma Khan, MO Ayurveda and Dr S Shweta, MO Homeo held a special session with adolescent students and spoke about menstrual issues like hygiene, balanced diet etc. They also responded to queries raised by students on the occasion.
Mr Nathan, Junior Engineer of APWD, Tugapur Division, later, held a mind storming session with students about engineering and career options. Mr Basudev Samadder, Forest Range officer, elaborated about the career options available in forestry.  Ms Sushma demonstrated various self defence techniques in judo and karate for female students.
