Acting promptly on the report published in The Echo of India, the North Andaman Construction Division, Mayabunder has floated re-tenders for construction of the Mortuary for Primary Health Centre, Tugapur. According to reports, the APWD Division has expedited efforts for early completion of the Mortuary building for the benefit of the villagers in the region.
The Echo of India in its edition on February 6 this year reported how government funds meant for the development of the health sector was being frittered away. More than two and a half years have passed after the Directorate of Health Services approved construction of a small mortuary for the Primary Health Centre located at Tugapur around 3.5 kms from Mayabunder. The private construction agency, which bagged the contract, abandoned the work mid-way after executing the project for around 16 months generating huge resentment among the villagers in the area. Acting on the report, the APWD Division in the region has invited fresh proposal for interested contractors for execution of the pending health facility.
