LG holds public meeting, assures redressal of problems at Mayabunder

Committed to fast-pace developmental activities and address public concerns on priority, the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands, Admiral DK Joshi (retd) held at public meeting at APWD Guest House here on Thursday. The Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Smt Kriti Garg, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, North and Middle, Smt Kalpana Bain, Up-Adhyaksha, Swapna Mondal, Assistant Commissioner, Rangat, Mr Piyush Rohankar, Divisional Forest Officer, Mayabunder, Jessy K Varkey, Heads of government departments, PRI member and general public in large numbers were present on the occasion.
The Adhyaksha of Zilla Parishad thanked the Lt. Governor for resuming boat services between Mayabunder and Port Blair. Among others, major issues which figured during the meeting include allocation of funds for construction of rural roads, early execution of national highway project, repair and maintenance of road network in different places, enhancement of financial powers for PRI members, timely settlement of diversion cases by revenue department, improvement in BSNL service, handing over Karamatang road to APWD, solution to water problems, filling up vacant posts in different government departments, round the clock availability of power and construction of floating jetty. The former Pradhan of Rampur, Saw Thomson urged the Lt. Governor to consider family compensation and a government job on compassionate grounds for Saw Khaley, who died during a forest recruitment test recently. After giving a patient hearing, the Lt. Governor assured time-bound redressal of all the concerns raised during the meeting.
