In a massive respite for the residents of the North and Middle Andaman region, particularly the headquarter area of Mayabunder, the petrol pump here is set for formal inauguration tomorrow. According to sources, the Chief Secretary of the A & N Administration, Mr Anindo Majumdar will launch the facility at 10 am in the presence of the Member of Parliament, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray and other senior officials of the district administration.
EOI had earlier reported that the trial operations of the maiden petrol pump in the headquarter region of the North and Middle Andaman region brought relief to the massive population in the area. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation and the Indian Oil Corporation strived hard to press the fuel station into operation for the benefit of the people. “The formal launch of the petrol filling facility will bring huge relief for the motorists here. People had to earlier pay out around Rs 10 per litre to procure fuel from private vendors. The maiden petrol pump in the Mayabunder region started trial operations in the month of January this year after requisite inspections by the officials of Indian Oil Corporation. The current Adhyaksh of Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman, Saw Tathu is credited the most for realising the long cherished dream of a petrol pump in the region.
