The Zilla Parishad member of North and Middle Andaman, Mr Ganesh Prakash has expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr Udit Prakash Rai, for extending timely assistance to an in-patient of GB Pant Hospital here. A pregnant lady admitted in the hospital was experiencing intense labour pains yesterday, but there were no doctors in the hospital at that time. However, following a request from Mr Ganesh Prakash, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman promptly took up the matter with the hospital authorities after which doctors rushed the woman to the operation theatre where she delivered a healthy baby child.
“Neelu Sandhya Lakra, a resident of Pahalgaon here, was in the advanced stages of pregnancy and was referred to GB Pant Hospital from Dr. RP Hospital, Mayabunder. She was admitted in the Labour Ward of GB Pant Hospital at Port Blair last night. At around 8 pm yesterday, I received a call from her husband that Neelu Sandhya Lakra was experiencing labour pains but there were no doctors to attend to her. I immediately sought help from the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman who asked me to share details about the patient. He then took up the matter with the GB Pant Hospital management and doctors rushed to the hospital to attend to the patient. Neelu Sandhya Lakra, later, gave birth to a healthy baby and both are now in stable condition,” said Mr Ganesh Prakash expressing thanks to the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman.
