Upset over inadequate facilities, students and parents of Govt. Secondary School, Mohanpur No. 5 in North Andaman have urged the Education Department to provide kitchen-cum-store facility for preparation of mid-day meal in the school premises. According to reports, mid-day meal for more than 300 students of the school is presently prepared in a temporary shed in the premises and villagers of the remote school have pleaded the Deputy Education of Officer of Mayabunder to undertake an inspection to approve construction of an RCC kitchen-cum-store facility in the school premise.
“Students of this remote school, like their counterparts in other parts of North Andaman, are entitled to be benefited from different schemes of the government. Preparation of mid-day meals should be done in kitchens under hygienic conditions, but presently a temporary shed is being used for the purpose. Besides, students are also demanding development of playground for the school. Officials of Mayabunder Educational Zone should inspect the school premises to assess the requirements of the students here,” said some villagers.
