‘Wildlife Awareness Rally’ at Mayabunder

As a part of 63rd  Wildlife Week a rally was organised by the Wildlife Division, Mayabunder on October 6 with about 100 persons including students from Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College, Mayabunder, Forest Department staff and workers of both Territorial and Wildlife division participating. The rally was flagged off by Mr. Saw Tathu, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman District as the chief guest from Danapur Junction in the presence of Mr. Ashok Kumar Paul, Divisional Forest Officer (Wildlife), Mayabunder which passed through the road for about 3 km spreading the message for conservation of Wildlife and its habitat till Forest Campus, Mayabunder where a brief function was organised.
Mr. Ashok Kumar Paul, DFO (Wildlife), Mayabunder addressing the gathering highlighted the need for conservation of wildlife and its habitat, the important wildlife species of our Islands, the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 197 2 and appealed to them to inculcate love and affection for the wild animals and to join hands with the Forest Department to curb crimes against the wild animals.
