GMCC: Strike to continue

Fast unto death by leaders from July 15

The third all party meeting in the hills decided to continue the ongoing strike till further notice and also announced about fast unto death by the leaders of Gorkhaland Movement Coordination Committee (GMCC) for the separate state of Gorkhaland.
The meeting held at the auditorium of Tourist Lodge in Mirik decided that the strike will not be withdrawn until the centre government call for the meeting to discuss about the formation of Gorkhaland.
Binay Tamang Morcha’s spokesperson and member of GMCC said, “From 15th of July leaders of GMCC comprising all party leaders will go for fast unto death at Chowrasta, Darjeeling, I myself will also be sitting on the hunger strike and would like to sacrifice my life for Gorkhaland.”
Tamang also informed that birth anniversary of Nepali poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya on 20th July will be observed across India in a grand manner in the name of Gorkha ekta Diwash and on that day all the awards and medals received from the State government will be returned back.
On 14th July the supporters will ‘Ghareo’ BDO, SDO and DM offices against the blockade of essential commodities from the plains.
The leaders of GMCC have warned all the chairman and vice chairman of various development boards are given the deadline to resign from their post till 14th June within 6 pm.
GNLF spokesperson Niraj Zimba said that in today’s meeting all have agreed to demand for a CBI enquiry on the violence in the hills and killing of eight innocent people in police firing.
The next meeting has been called on 18th July to discuss about the future course of movement.
