A cattle dealer alleged harassment by Chopra police after the cattle being taken to Assam were seized during night patrolling on Sunday.
Meher Banu Begam alleged that she had purchased 16 cows from Mustafa Ansari from Panjipara yesterday. While the cattle were being transported to Assam, a team of Chopra police halted the lorry and seized the cattle laden vehicle.
“I have valid papers of trading cattle and I purchased those cows from Ansari on production of those papers. My cattle were detained despite the fact that I produced all papers to police on demand,” Begam said.
Ansari too claimed that the deal was fair and legal.
Anup Jayswal, superintendent of police said that the cattle and the vehicle were seized against a specific information. “The cattle buyer is being interrogated,” Jayswal said. (EOIC)
