Five killed in road mishap

Five persons were killed and ten others injured when the bus they were travelling in fell into a roadside ditch in Bhadaur police station area in Bihar, police said today. The incident took place under Barh sub-division of rural Patna where the bus, carrying passengers to Sheikhpura district, skidded off the road while negotiating a sharp turn and fell into a gorge killing three persons on the spot while two more succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital last night.
"The bus was carrying residents of a village in Sheikhpura who had come to Barh for cremating an old woman. The driver of the bus, whom the surviving passengers accused of being drunk, fled after the mishap", they said.
Four of the deceased have been identified as Surendra Mistry, Chhote Mistry, Janardan Mistry and Jawahar Mistry - all residents of Deeha village in Ariyari block of Sheikhpura, while the identity of the fifth deceased is yet to be established, they said. A search was on to trace the driver, they said. (PTI)
