NITISH-LALU RELATIONS SOUR FURTHER; MINISTERS SKIP CABINET MEETING

All does not seem to be well with the Nitish Kumar-led grand alliance government in Bihar. Several ministers remained absent from the Cabinet meeting convened by the chief minister on 2nd June. The absentees included RJD supremoLalu Prasad's sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap and Education Minister Ashok Choudhary of the Congress. Lalu Prasad himself failed to attend the DMK rally to mark the 94th birthday celebrations of party founder M Karunanidhi, but Nitish was present in the rally that was held on the occasion, where he clarified that Lalu was scheduled to come but could not make it due to high fever. The absence, however, gives further credence to the impression that the relationship between Nitish and Lalu is souring. (IPA)
