158 units of blood collected at VBD camp

Altogether, 158 units of blood were collected in the Voluntary Blood Donation Camps (VBD Camp) which was organized by INS UTKROSH, the Naval AIR Station, Port Blair at MI room on Friday. The camp was facilitated by A & N AIDS Control Society.
The VBD Camp was inaugurated by Commodore Ashutosh Ridhorkar, the Commander of the Naval Component at Port Blair. Personnel from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Civilian employees of Ministry of Defence and volunteers from civil population of Port Blair donated blood voluntarily.
Dr. M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society supervise the camp. In his address,  he motivated the gathering to donate blood for the noble cause as it saves precious life. He also briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation. The medical/laboratory staff of the Society and Blood Bank, GB Pant Hospital conducted the camp befittingly.
