248 students immunized in Measles & Rubella Vaccination campaign at Baratang

As part of national strategy to eliminate measles and control rubella across the country, vaccination campaign was organized at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Oral Katcha, Baratang by the Department of Health in collaboration with the Directorate of Education on Thursday.
Last month, an awareness programme was organized by the PHC, Baratang during which parents was apprised about the illness associated with the rubella virus and were requested to attend the vaccination campaign by Dr. Annie and Dr. Smiley.  Even though the target group was children from the Pre-primary group to Class X (03-15 yrs.), parents were advised to bring infants of 09 months and above for the vaccination. The inaugural function of vaccination campaign was held in school premises. Smti M V Jolly, Principal was the chief guest, while Mr AlagarSwamy, Zilla Parishad, Baratang was present as the guest of honour. Dr. Meena Nazir, Medical Officer Incharge, PHC Baratang with the medical team conducted the vaccination campaign. Three rooms were earmarked for the purpose of waiting room, vaccination and observation room. One ambulance was kept on standby for medical emergency. The medical team comprising four paramedics managed smooth operation of the campaign. Altogether 248 numbers of children were vaccinated and indelible ink was marked on the left thumb of the vaccinated children for identification and Measles Rubella vaccination campaign certificate was issued to the vaccinated children.  The Chairman, SMC congratulated the school management for the effective conduct of vaccination campaign.
