8 Myanmarese poachers apprehended by police

On receipt of information from a local fisherman of  VK Pur regarding sighting of Myanmarese poachers entering into Jackson Creek on two engine dinghies, a police party was deputed to carry out extensive search under the supervision of Mr M.K. Meena, SDPO Havelock. After day & night search operations, the Police team headed by SI Subramani, I/C OP R.K.Pur apprehended three Myanmar Poachers on the 11th of this month and three more on the 18th by another team lead by ASI S.N. Rathore. Two more Burmese nationals were also apprehended.
The apprehended Myanmarese were brought to Port Blair and a case has been registered at PS CCS under relevant  sections of law. The two seized engine dinghies of the poachers have been brought to Hut Bay with the help of Coast Guard Ship.  Further investigation of the case and search of remaining poachers is in progress by A & N Police and IRBn joint teams. The general public have been requested to pass on any credible information pertaining to any illegal activity in the area on telephone nos. 100 (PCR) or respective Police Station on 03192-284208 (PS Hut Bay) or any nearest Police Station.
