80 ANCOL students attend FLAP workshop

A workshop on Financial Literacy Awareness Programme (FLAP) was organised by the Department of Business Administration (BBA) of Andaman College (ANCOL) in collaboration with NABARD, Port Blair on Wednesday. Mr Murali Mohan, DGM, NABARD, Smt Chandrika Acharya, Manager, NABARD, and Mr. Manoj Kumar Lakra, Branch Manager, SBI Evening Branch here were the resource persons for the programme.
In her address, Smt  Acharya said that NABARD was committed to attain the rural prosperity and tries hard to bring the changes in the rural lives. She also spoke about the importance to literate rural community in digital economy.  Mr. Manoj Kumar explained about the various digital modes of receipts and payments and ways to use the various digital applications, tools to ease cashless transactions.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. R. Dev Das, Principal, ANCOL emphasised that financial literacy should not be confined to opening of bank accounts but the students should also train and equip themselves with the various technological advancements in the fields of digital banking system, cashless money transfer etc. The young student community while using the technology should be cautious not to fall prey to online frauds etc., he said. He also asked the students and staff of the department to make use of the programme and urge the student community to act as facilitators towards the promotion of digital economy in the neighbourhood and society.
Altogether 80 students of BBA Department participated in the workshop. The topics presented with PPT’s and videos in the workshop include the Introduction of Financial Literacy, Need and Importance, Digital and Cashless Transactions, Role and Usage of E-banking, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Financial Management etc. Mr. A. Damudar Rao, HOD, Department of Commerce & Management, ANCOL proposed the vote of thanks.
