Port Blair
13 Dec 2017

Mr. M. Vinod, president of Andaman Association of Tour Operators has brought to the notice of the Chief Port Administrator that tour operators are not allowed inside the port areas and also the PMB department never held any meeting with the stakeholders regarding the facilities available at the port for tourists as a result of which tour operators are unable to communicate about the same to visitors. Further, there is only 1 toilet each at the passengers hall for the use of around more than 1000 passengers as well as the staff of the private boats which is not enough for the visiting tourist and most of the time there are complaints from tourist that the present toilet always remains without water, Mr Vinod said demanding increase in the number of toilets.
AATO also invited the attention of the CPA towards lack of facilities like toilets, trolley etc., at Water Sports Complex, Neil & Havelock, but tourists are forced to pay Passengers Service Fees. Mr Vinod also sought clarification as to whether the services for tourists are free and why Private Boat Operators charge Passenger service fee from the tourist to the tune of Rs. 50 from Phoenix Bay, Neil, Havelock and Rs.20/- from Water Sports Complex. The PMB should issue directions to all Private Boat Operators to refund the Passenger Service Fee collected by Tourist since August 2017, said Mr Vinod further requesting the CPA to install sign boards in Port areas indicating facilities available to tourists.
